Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership and Local Governing Body
Since 1st June 2016 the Trinity Church Primary has become part of the Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership (MNSP) who run both the Trinity Church Primary and Dundry C of E Primary schools.
The Trustees have a wide range of responsibilities including:
- School curriculum
- Strategic Vision
- Performance & Data
- Appointment of staff
- Health and Safety
- Upkeep and development of school premises
- Responsibility for monitoring of school budgets
Some of these responsibilities are delegated to the Local Governing Body of each individual school within the Trust.
Both the Trust and the Local Governing Body, meet once per term and are made up of staff, parents and members of the community and the church.
The Trustees & Governors have day to day involvement with the school and have a clear vision of what the school is trying to achieve. They attend Governor days, as well as supporting the school during curriculum days, concerts and social events. They have a clear knowledge of the school and lead the school strategically, supporting staff and children.
Parent View Results - November 2017
Governors and staff were pleased to see that the results of this year's Parent Questionnaire compared to last year's demonstrated that confidence continues to strengthen. All the parents who responded agreed or strongly agreed that their children are safe, happy and taught well. In addition all the parents agreed or strongly agreed that their child is making good progress and that they feel well looked after in school. The Local Governing Body
Claire Hudson - Chair of Governors
As well as being Chair of Governors at Trinity, Claire is Chair of Governors at Critchill Special School in Frome. She was appointed as a National Leader of Governance for her work at Critchill. Claire works for the Diocese of Bath & Wells in the Education Department and is a District Councillor in Frome. As well as having the Chair responsibilities, Claire also monitors the SEN provision within the school.
Michelle Parsons - Headteacher
David Wiltshire - Safeguarding Governor (Vice Chair)
Dave is currently an Assistant Headteacher at Norton Hill School. In this role, he focuses upon the opportunities for the most vulnerable students and ensures that they have the support and provision necessary to achieve the very best in their learning and improving progress throughout their school career. Dave is also responsible for the yearly transition of over 300 students from their primary setting into Norton Hill. With links to over 30 primary schools within the region, he is in the privileged position to work alongside his primary and secondary colleagues to ensure that all settle in successfully and achieve their very best. As a science and chemistry teacher, Dave is passionate about ensuring all students have access to the very best education. As a Director appointed Governor, Dave is delighted to be part of the governing body at Trinity and looks forward to helping all the children at Trinity achieve their very best. Dave is monitoring our safeguarding provision and pupil premium children within the school.
Prof. Chris Brace - Governor (MNSP Trustee)
Chris is a Director appointed Governor and currently works as Professor of Automotive Propulsion at the University of Bath. Chris leads a research group of around 50 researchers and academics working on future propulsion systems for clean and efficient cars. With six children aged between 10 and 20, Chris became a parent governor at Norton Hill. Since that time the school has grown from a single academy into the founding school of a multi academy trust of which he is a Trustee. Chris volunteered to sit on the local governing body for Trinity to help get the school back into good shape as quickly as possible. Chris is monitoring Maths and looking at the anti-bullying provision within the school.
Jennifer Hird - Director Appointed Governor
Jen has been a parent at Trinity since 2013 and currently has children in Y1, Y3 and Y5. Jen was a Director appointed Governor and is currently monitoring the English provision at Trinity. Having experience in communications, Jen brings the benefit of ensuring honesty, transparency and accountability between the different groups within the school community as well as the wider Radstock community. With a passion to see Trinity thrive, Jen is committed to ensuring Trinity does the very best for all the children who walk through its doors so that they leave ready for the challenges of Secondary School.
Donna Grantham - Parent Governor
Donna is currently working as a parent governor and has been a parent at the school for five years with one child currently in Y6. Feeling passionate about primary education, Donna can bring energy and enthusiasm to help Trinity achieve high standards. As an active member of the PTA, Donna has an excellent relationship with parents and always makes herself approachable to listen to their thoughts and views. Having worked as a Senior Play Worker in the nursery at Trinity, Donna has gained experience working closely with the school towards making a difference within children’s education. Donna has volunteered to monitor and work with our early years team.
Jon Janson - Parent Governor
Jon is the most recent member of our team and volunteered as a parent governor. Jon has two children at the school in YR and Y2 and has been working as a dentist in and around the local area for nearly 20 years. As a voice for parents, Jon appreciates how difficult it is as a parent to juggle busy lives and managing children at school and sees this opportunity as a way to help the school back to achieving an outstanding level again. Jon will be monitoring our Health and Safety procedures within the school.
Jasmine Bennett - Staff Governor
Jasmine joined the school in September 2015 as an NQT and gained her qualified teacher status (QTS) a year later. Currently teaching in Year 3, Jasmine is a very enthusiastic member of the team and also runs an after school club every week. Keen to see the school progress Jasmine volunteered to represent her colleagues as Staff Governor.
